Fantasy Photoshoot
The other day I've collaborated on a Lord of the Rings inspired photoshoot with the talented makeup artist Tehilla Marek, the amazing costume designer Bar Bashan, who designs and creates stunning costumes for various theaters, and the beautiful Ahava Rosenheim as our model. We've been planning this shoot for some time and it was postponed twice, so we were all pretty excited for it to finally happen.
Here are some of the behind the scenes photos of the preparations and of the photoshoot.

And here are some photos of the final images. As you may have seen in the behind the scenes photos, there are two shoot through umbrellas with strobes as the light sources. The key (main) light is on camera left and the fill light is on camera right. The fill light is about a stop less than the key light, creating only a slight shadow on the model's left side of the face, in order to give a sense of depth or a 3 dimensional feeling.
My favorite images from this shoot were taken either on a white background or using the bare wall as a background. The wall's color really blended in well with the model's coloring as well as with the off-white garment. Here are some of the final images from the shoot.

This following picture we took outdoors a few minutes before sunset. The lighting setup used for this was one bare strobe fired from behind her head, in order to create a rim-light (that halo effect around her hair). In addition, I've fired an additional strobe through an umbrella from 45 degrees angle on the right of the model, creating a Rembrandt lighting effect. Rembrandt used to paint his subject using window light that came from a similar angle and would light his subjects face from one side and would create a perfect triangle of light on the eye furthest from the light source. This is a flattering lighting setup and creates depth in the image. In this case you can see the triangle of light on the eye in the left side of the photo.

Hope you've enjoyed this behind the scenes tour as well as our final images.
